West Bengal: Man Supposedly Beaten To Death By Police After Stepping Out To Buy Milk

On 24 March – Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the nation once more to announce a complete lockdown as a measure to curb the spread of the deadly coronavirus. The police have been keeping strict vigilance on the streets and in some cases, are taking action against those stepping out.

Talking about a shocking incident, a 32-year-old man from Howrah, West Bengal, died after getting beaten up by the police for stepping out of the house for buying milk for his family, reports India Today.

The victim was rushed to a local hospital but the doctors declared him dead on arrival. The incident took place on Wednesday. The report of The New Indian Express says that the man’s wife alleged that he died because of his injuries after facing a lathi-charge by the police who were “clearing a gathering” on the street.

However, the police denied these claims and said that the man suffered from prior heart conditions and died because of a cardiac arrest.
