A 17-year-old Pratik died on the spot from a bullet fired by one of his friends, Sunny Pawar. Sunny was allegedly making a video to be shared on TikTok while posing with a gun in his hand. Police said the main accused has been interrogated and a probe for illegal weapon possession is on, says the report.
The social video app claims that it has 200 million users in India, of which 120 million are active every month. Pratik died on the spot during the incident, which took place in the temple town of Shirdi Wednesday evening, police said.
Pratik was in the city for the last rituals of a family member with his relatives Sunny Pawar (20), Nitin Wadekar (27), and an 11-year-old boy. They were in a hotel when they decided to shoot a video with the pistol and share it on TikTok.
Just after pulling the trigger, Pratik fell and others ran out of the room. The gunshot alerted the hotel staff who tried to stop Pratik’s relatives, but they threatened to open fire and ran away.
According to India Today, The Shirdi police have arrested Pawar and Wadekar. The case is registered under IPC sections 302 (murder) and 307 (attempt to murder).
